[It's the wee hours of morning before Maya is sure-sure that everything's okay and that toxic tail of hers is gone for good. After the latest-nightest of buses arrives in Bavan, Maya hesitantly finds her way to the bar, knocking before she tries to open it.]

[Dandy doesn't answer, although certainly not because he's ignoring her. He's just...way in there. Depending on how lucky carelessness sounds to you, the doors just happen to be open. It's...fine, who's gonna rob a nightclub owned by a man eating monster anyway?

From the distance, Maya might hear the gentle clicks of tiny little paws against the floor as Little Miss makes her way to her other favorite mermaid.]

There once was a boy who was a Halloween fanatic. He loved dressing up for Halloween, he loved pulling pranks and watching horror movies, and above everything else... he loved candy. One fateful year, while he went trick-or-treating, he visited a house. This house was creepy as hell! It was big, it was old, it smelled like a grandmother and it was owned by a happy, old rich couple. The boy came here thinking that he would be handed out big chocolate bars, because it was a rich person's house but when he knocked on their door... he was handed a bag of that shitty candy that nobody likes! Tootsie rolls, shitty flavoured dum-dums, those weird... peanut things... needless to say, the boy was heartbroken. He was so heartbroken that he died, right there on their porch and now, every Halloween he goes out and finds people to curse. He wants everyone to suffer the same way he did!

Everybody is already suffering from his curse!! Send this to ten people to break the curse, or to avoid getting cursed, or you'll be stuck looking freakier than usual for the rest of your life!!!!!!!!!!

[Maya's lucky, really.

Done over with sin, she's vulnerable and dangerous all at once, with no telling how many human victims she'd had the chance to drown before Dandy'd pulled her out of her tank (unless of course he'd had the time or tolerance to count which of the bodies had been rendered man-jerky). All the way as they've wandered out toward home, not quite there yet but stopped a good ways through, Maya's been downright harassing Dandy. It's not like she means to, but... it's like the fog god pressed down on the 'desire' button so long that the dang thing done did broke.

Her need for attention is out of control, and her favorite outlet for attention just happened to pull her out of a fish bowl. She's been clinging to Dandy even as they've slowed to a hesitant stop, giggling about how adorable he is and making far too many propositions.

But as midnight hits, monsters all over Ryslig are freed from sin. Maya shuts up very suddenly, hit with a wave of relief that makes her nearly boneless for a moment. The relief is short-lived, though; there's no memory loss this time. Just like everyone else, Maya is left clear-minded with the weight of her sins on her shoulders.

The quiet continues as Maya tries not to even breathe, staring intently into the space she's nuzzled into Dandy's hair. Her hands bring strands of it to clutch to her chest as she takes a breath, a wave of dread washing over her.

Her voice is so tiny when she murmurs—]

[so he definitely receives this in person BUT, Dandy's sweet wife doesnt leave him out for Christmas; his Kohakutou is special, all star shapes that left big scraps she turned into seaglass shapes for the others. Theyre bright yellow and a citrus-pineapple flavor, while the blue sea glass shapes that come with it are coconut flavored. There's dorayaki with chocolate inside and mochi, all from her sweets making day with Makoto, as well as a brand new omamori for the year.

The kohakutou is wrapped up in a shiny blue bag made up of repeated wave shapes that twist together at the top, and it's doubly secured with an abalone shell bolo tie. Alongside the sweets she's cut paper hearts as confetti, just to seal the deal.]

[Not every trip between Merain and Bavan is made without Phoenix and Edgeworth, but for whatever reason, this one is; and it's important, because Maya needs to talk to Dandy alone. It's why she's insisted on driving this time, too, for practice, despite how much she drove when Dandy's tail first came in.

A little bit after they're on the road and well toward the outskirts of Bavan, Maya speaks up.]

Hey.

[Eyes still on the road for the most part, Maya flashes Dandy a fairly normal look. Not too concerned, yet.]

Something's bothering you lately, huh?

[Said the biggest liar ever.

Dandy's scrunched up into a large, dolphiny ball in the passenger seat, staring out the window with a very scrunched up nose. His tail, despite being held so close to his body, taps repeatedly in what is very clearly SOME sort of irritation.

[For many reasons, life in Ryslig is hard. It's especially hard when you and your partner, despite remembering (against all odds) your anniversary, have to miss it for the irregularly scheduled end of the world.

So with a little help from Anna, Maya has acquired a gift that'll mean something to her still freshly cetacean-faced husband.

She opens the door to his office in the bar and kicks up her well-dressed heel to meet the doorway, much like Dandy tends to pose, and flips her hair over her shoulder as she proffers a brightly colored tropical bouquet in practically neon oranges and yellows and pinks that stand out against Maya's two-toned scheme.

With a wide grin and raising one brow, she comments-]

Special delivery for the hottest man in Ryslig, is he here?

[It's time to get everything swept up for the night! And in the mean time, to check over the much-needed decorations for the approaching romantic holiday. They've got to get those Valentine's dollars, after all.

But Maya's got other plans on her mind, ones she's eager to get started on— and to share with Dandy. She's sure he will find her ideas great and wonderful and in no way inadvisable.]

[She beckons her husband to the bar, where she is of course sitting on the bartop again, as she is wont to do.]

Sometime between Hafestal and the event ssoo let's say the 10th

[It has only been a few days since Sparkling finally made the trek back to Bavan from Vandare. It was by no means his own doing; Sonic had to come rescue him, which he would be eternally grateful for. He imagines walking would have been....poosssible? But not exactly ideal when he could still barely walk evenly with these too-long legs of his. Now all of a sudden, he has a part-time job bartending with his first shift at Lucky 38 the following night and had managed to secure himself an apartment not far from there. It really had felt like things were happening too fast for him to keep up, but he'd much rather deal with that than deal with sleeping on the street somewhere.

That said, with so many different things to consider between dealing with being stuck in a new world in a new body with very little familiarity in terms of...quite a lot of things, actually, Sparkling would be lying if he said he wasn't eager for a moment of respite. Even if that was something as simple as visiting a bar...one of the places that has a knack for making him feel comfortable and at home no matter where he is. Turns out, Nai'a is no different.

He's left marveling at the place the moment he enters shortly after opening, his face actually lit up with something like wonder for the first time since arrival. He's very hard to miss being a non-monster in a likely very monster populated establishment, though he looks more like an employee than a customer given that he's still wearing his uniform from his bar.]

Oh wow. Would you just take a look at this place...! It's wonderful!
