[King of clowns pulls back and reclines in his chair, cradling his flowers once again. She sure is in some kinda fun mood today, that's for sure.]

[Maya gives an overly dramatic sigh, kicking her feet on either side of Dandy and putting down those flowers on the desk next to her.]

[She hopes, very much, that he won't be mad.]

[Dandy frowns as he watches the flowers get put on the desk, his fins drooping far too dramatically.]

I mean...we can still...lock the door after you're done talkin' to me, right?

[Somberness aside, Maya still gives Dandy an impish grin.]

Aaaaas long as you still like me afterwards, that door can stay locked all night.

Nooooooot sure if I like that sound of that...and yet really like the sound of that at the same...time?

[She giggles a little before straightening up a little and looking him dead in the eye—]

[The world has made her mean to him, sure, but she'd never choose to, never relish in it.]

Maya sighs, putting her hands against her cheeks and squeezing for just a moment to prepare herself. Another deep breath.]

I need to tell you... that when I was in my world, I wasn't just... a medium.

In my family, only girls get the power— I think I told you this part before.

But my mom, before she disappeared... she was the chief of the village. And after my sister left, and... died... well, I was supposed to be the new leader of Fey clan, once my training was finished.

But there's always been a power struggle, you know? Women from the split branches of the family have always wanted to take over and be the leader, or... seen the main branch of the family, or the new chief... as too weak.

[She looks down into her lap, brows creased as she forces herself to admit;]

My aunt was one of those people. And she spent... a lot of my life... [heh.] Trying to end it.

[Dandy really doesn't say much of anything, what is there even to say? His first reaction would honestly be some smartass comment about how her life is like some kind of movie, but he feels like this might not be the time for that.

Damn though, he really didn't expect to get hit with something so heavy after happy haha flower clown time.

He opens his arms wide.]

C'mere, sit in the chair with me.

[Normally she'd jump right in, but this time, Maya shakes her head, leaning her head back— and then reaching forward to grab his hands, taking them in hers.]

No... not yet.

I'm not telling you this so you'll feel bad for me or anything... But—

But maybe so you'd know that.... more than going home, I'd rather stay here.

[She looks him in the eyes again.]

So I don't want anything to happen to this world. I want... to be able to keep it safe.

[To keep him safe. To keep everything they have together safe.]

Dandy, I want to help the Fog god keep this world alive, and... I want the power not to be scared anymore, too.

[WELL, if Maya didn't grab his hands, his arms definitely would've dropped from hearing that. Still, she can probably feel them slack as he hangs his head.]

[Let him compose himself so his first answer isn't to scream.]

[She offers, wincing a little and giving his fingers a squeeze.]

[Instead of yelling, Dandy just throws his head back, inhaling through his nose very loudly the entire way.]

Is this your way of tellin' me you're joining the fog god?

And not like Aunamee, either! I swear.

[The exhale he's been holding comes when his head flops forward again.]

I know you know this would've been an absolute shitshow if you asked any sooner, yeah?

[He sighs, giving her fingers a squeeze of his own.]

[She nods, cuing him to give her those conditions.]

[His tone comes off a little harsh, but it's all reactionary at this point. After that heartfelt confession, there's just no way he can bring himself to yell at her, not if she's feeling THAT helpless.

Still, he can't make it seem like he's 100% on board. Because he's not.

He holds up one finger.]

I want no funny business, like you said, you ain't Antoine. That means no going on the network preachin' the "good word" or whatever, or bringing wacky god bullshit into the house.

[That...might be a lot to ask, since it's HER house, but he might as well try. He wants to be supportive, he does, but seeing that shit regularly wouldn't feel...right. The second finger comes up.]

Two, I want you to always remember the fog god isn't gonna love you for real, no matter what she says. Not like I do. If she ever finally listens to us, maybe I'll change my tune, but so far it's just bullshit.

Three....I need you to ask her...how a lone godless monster can somehow find a way to hurt the fourth bad. Like, really bad.

[Maya raises a brow, blinking, like... she expected something more.]

Dandy, that's easy.

I'm not doing this cos I love the Fog god. I'm doing it because she's got the only place I know I can keep loving you.

[She grins, wide, lets go of his hands to take his face in her hands and smooch his stupid snoot with an obnoxious noise.]

[Heh, he's certain this will bite their asses in some way in the future, but he's never been one to worry about shit that far ahead. If she's sure this is what she needs to do to feel safe and powerful, then fine. As long as it's not the fourth god, and hey, maybe it'll give him some sort of...pseudo protection from any possible fog-related tortures.

Oops, there he goes thinking about the future again, he'd rather focus on the moment-]

Now...about this door situation...

Mm, so you still like me then, huh~? Flowers really were the best bet.

[It's obvious she's teasing, as she turns to dismount off the desk and go make sure that door is shut and locked tight. Then, she returns to the desk, walking around it now instead of parkouring right into Dandy's lap— though that is her eventual destination.

With a quick kiss to just above his gills, Maya offers;]
