[Maya pulls back to look him in the eyes, adamant.
Maya'd really thought the worst thing she could see, even if it hadn't been real, was a young woman being tossed in the flames to burn to death in Labyrinthia. She thought her own near death in such a way had been terrible. But she'd stood strong against the idea these 'witches' needed to die, especially when their only crimes had been to be, and in Ryslig she felt just the same about humans.
Feeding on people had been worse than the flames. Losing her humanity, having plants growing through her skin, losing her fingers and hair and fins to the stomach of a whale-- those had all been worse, but her stance hadn't changed.]
I don't agree with her.
[Still, she starts to lose steam. Even if she's not eager to join the fog, she's still clearly bothered by what was said.]
...And I don't believe her.... when she says she loves her 'children'.

Well, there's no second guessing after something like that, Maya sure knows how to make herself crystal clear. Maybe it's just Dandy projecting his own self doubt again, after all, he was really close into buying all that shit. A part of him always wonders if he still would if he never got that stupid fog form in the first place, that's what opened his eyes in the end. The idea honestly scares him a lot, it's...good to see Maya's a way stronger person he'll ever be.]

[It's also obvious he might've upset her with his accidental accusation, and he tries to make up for it by running his hand over her head gently. It's a nice, slow stroke, he can't help it. She has soft hair.]

Morgan had spit horrible things from her mouth-- perhaps not as horrible as the Fog-- but she'd never been so warm. Even her praises of Mystic Maya had been cold and clearly obligatory, even if Maya'd always pretended otherwise. But the fog had spoken like--- like she'd forgive her--
In her desperation to get away from her own thoughts, Maya focuses on Dandy. She's not nearly obtuse enough to have missed that.]
...What is it?
[She asks, tilting her head a little. She thought for sure talking to her in the first place would make Dandy mad-- but it hadn't. So it can't be that. What about what she said had upset him?]

If there's one thing he doesn't want, it's Maya misjudging him to the point where she worries he's gonna get mad at her. That's just not who he is, and it kills him to think she'd fear him in some manner, even for something like this.]
