Morning Mail on the 15th

[Maya wasn't kidding about having more letters for Dandy. This one is a little more special, though. She takes her time with it and tries her hardest to get her real, honest feelings out there on paper, hopefully forever.

This letter's done just slightly more ornately, done on locally-made stationery and everything. She finishes it up some time on the 14th, and delivers it to their mailbox herself unseen, just to make sure the mailman doesn't lose it.]

Dear Dandy Fey,

Bet you liked my last letter a bunch, huh? Don't worry, that wasn't the only letter I have for you!

I know this world is kind of the worst, and every day there's a chance something awful could happen on top of all the awful things that have already happened. But there's wonderful things here, too, like you. That sounds cheesy, right? I think so too, but it's true. You're one of those wonderful things, you and your laugh, and the way you smile at me when I come home.

I don't think I meant for this to turn into a love letter, but unexpected is kind of the name of the game with you, isn't it? I never even thought I'd find someone to really fall in love with, not that I was looking, but I didn't think it would happen. I was kind of just supposed to find someone to have an heir with and keep training even once he got bored and left. I guess I wasn't supposed to become a mermaid either, but that and falling in love with you still happened. Things never really turn out the way they're supposed to! So I'm glad they turned out with us together here. Can you even imagine how boring it would be if we never met??? Probably the worst. Who would be my carnival buddy or totally lose a drinking contest to me or play as a giant dolphin dog with me? Or play games with me and laugh when we kinda get the rules wrong?? See? The worst.

I know you don't necessarily hear it a lot so I wanted to say thank you for everything you've done for me, too. I really would be a lot lonelier without you. I can't really thank you enough. I know it's not like we get a choice but you don't have to worry, whether we're separate or together, whereever we end up, I'm glad to be someone you can fly home to.

Now you have me saying corny things like you! This whole letter is kinda corny, but something tells me that's your style.

I guess it's kind of my style too. I think I've changed, because of you.

I think it's for the better.
