[She turns around and sits on the bed, flopping down beside him with her legs hanging off. She's so short, though..]

[It's almost like he kind of didn't need her after all. Good thing she still feels wanted around. She smiles right at that dumb fish boy, genuinely proud, but still also pretty obviously teasing...]

[If she thought she felt wanted before, Dandy ups his game the moment she lies down. With a few well placed wiggles, he maneuvers himself so he can wrap his arms around her and cradle her head, softly stroking the long wavy hair he finds himself engulfed in.

Geez, now that he thinks about it, he never slept with anyone in this bed yet. ...Or at least anyone who isn't the dog.]

Wasn't easy, loads of people love to push my buttons. But I managed...

[Most of those people were...the fog god...and other...ghostly things, but they count just as much as far as he's concerned.]

[Maya hasn't even been away from Dandy for very long by her own standards, by her own blissful sleep, and yet she still melts at this show of affection. He's the only one that's ever been this affectionate with her, and it still gets her stomach to do flips. It's a wonderfully warm feeling, though, being held, and Maya wiggles just closer enough to put her hands on Dandy's chest. This is a nice place to be, a comfort in an otherwise terrifying world.]

I'm sure it was challenge.

[She teases, but she knows how horrid things get here. She teases only to keep the mood light.]

But hey! I'm back. And I'll be the one pushing your buttons from now on.

[This is almost too much for him to handle, the way Maya just slides closer into him is something he forgot was even a thing. Dandy's a touch starved fool and he knows it, if he could just stay here pressed against her for the rest of the month, he would. Fuck work, forget responsibilities, he deserves a break!! Food is for the weak, he survives on only cuddles now.

Or it would be only cuddles if he also wasn't such a disaster.]

[aaaaand she's just gonna shove her hand in his face.]

[Maybe she's just shoving at his face to hide the redness in her cheeks but also oh my god, he's so embarrassing. He deserves the shoves.]

Dandy doesn't even put up a fight against Maya's hand, her shove is enough to keep his eyes on the ceiling.]

[Maya relieves him, putting her hands to either side of his face instead of continuing to shove- and slaps her hands against his cheeks gently a good few times.]

Count on you to be a pervert so quick. You must really have been tired last time. You were actually kind of adorable instead.

[Oh, is THAT what she's into? Dandy pouts out his lip and lowers his eyelids, looking as pathetic and sleepy as possible. Look at him, he's sooooooo tired.

It doesn't help that his face jiggles every time she slaps it.]

Oh man, I sure love sleeping all the damn time~ If oooooonly there was a cute chick I could snooze with~

[Yes, he has clearly gotten the point and is definitely getting what she's into. She puts her hands on either of his cheeks and smushes them together.]

Noooo, it was more like 'mmmm, I'm soo glad you're home, but I'm gonna fall asleep again without you aaaaanyway cos I'm a big sleepyhead.'

[She keeps squishing his cheeks while she mimics his voice, fairly accurately (for what her voice can reach, anyway) despite the goofy tirade.]

What the hell- I don't sound anything like that!!

[Dandy struggles to say through pressed cheeks and squeezed lips. Two can play at this game, and soon enough he's sandwiching Maya's cheeks in between his own webby hands, pressing just enough to make those adorable orca lips squish out.

They're both idiots.]

There wasn't a single "baby" in there at all, you're not even trying!!

[This. This is how it's going to be, two mermaids swishing each other's faces and saying stupid shit. This is the romance that Dandy was looking for. A dream indeed.]

Ohhhh I'm sorry, baby, I forgot all about your cool catchphrase, baby, I was toooo busy being sleepy like a baby baby baby!

[As ridiculous as this all is, how they just lie there squishing each other's faces, Dandy can't help but bask in the feel of...everything. It's dumb and it's silly and he can't get this out of anyone else. There's no one else who would ever play with him like this, let alone initiate it. It's difficult to keep playing up he's pissed when she pulls stuff like that, his smile breaking through as he pulls his head back to laugh.]

Damn, look out!! We got ourselves the real deal over here.

[It's like there's two of him, something the world's probably always wanted.

He can only joke so long before he starts getting overwhelmed again, Dandy can't remember the last time he's laughed like this. Definitely not lately, what with all the shit that's went down in the last two months. It's been hard, aaaand he's already over it.

Purposely slipping his face back between her hands, Dandy pushes even further so he can gently rest his forehead against hers. The soft clicking emitting from deep in his throat can only be described as affectionate as he nuzzles against her like an animal. It's...kinda ruined by the obi still wrapped around his head, but the idea's still there.]

You have no idea how much I missed you...

[If they've got anything here together, at the very least it's playmates. Maya's grin can't be hidden when Dandy laughs, a victorious joy in her eyes. She doesn't even know what he's been through yet, or what awaits her, but if she can make at least one person smile in all of it, it's worth it, right? Maya admires the sound of his laugh, the tilt of his neck, smiling herself like a satisfied cat.

She is the winner. It is she. Maya's own laugh bubbles out with that same too-pleased-with-herself tone.

When he slips his face back between her hands she holds his cheeks all soft and sweet, and her smile somehow seems even more pleased when he nuzzles her. And then he speaks again, and Maya bites her lip. It's nice to hear she's been missed, but it kinda sucks, too, when she wasn't away doing anything, when there was no real reason for her to be gone.]

Well miss me no more, the magnificent Maya Fey is here again.

["Again."

Boy, that really takes the wind out of his sails for a tiny second. Nuzzling stops as he presses his face against her skull, his lips in sort of a mid kiss as he thinks that one over. As happy as he is to see her back, it kinda sucks that she has to be here. Maya managed to slip out twice, even if it didn't feel like time's passed, she still managed to dodge a lot of nasty shit.

And he knows it's not like that shit's gonna stop.]

I really hope this ain't my fault...

[Whoops, he's thinking out loud, but it's a feeling he can't shake now. Did the fog god bring her back because of...him? If they weren't a thing, would she have just ignored her for a different toy? This line of thinking isn't anything new, a part of him always worried shit was his fault, like how she conveniently became a mermaid too.

Guilt...guilt is fun.

He finally finishes up his smooch and rests his head against her like she's the world's hairiest pillow.]

[But Maya hears that. She blinks, looking up but of course unable to see his face from this angle. That was supposed to get a happy reaction, not.... this!! She can't see yet why he'd blame himself.]

What? Of course not.

[Maya murmurs toward Dandy's collar. She's sure he can still hear him, even if he's conveniently not looking at her.]

You're not the fog god, you know! You didn't make me show up...

[Hey, so, he doesn't even need to see her face to know how much that hit her. Oops, that's what he gets for having such a big mouth. But you know what? He's kind of glad that slipped out.

That's exactly what he needed to hear.]

Hey, yeah...

[He clings to her hair, tightening his grip in the thick strands. It's like every second they continue to spend together, the more he's reminded why he fell for this girl in the first place.]

Heh, good thing I'm not, huh? I mean, gods don't get bodies and junk, I don't even wanna think how boring that's gotta be. No wonder she's such a crab ass.

[Maya rolls her eyes and finally pulls back enough to get a better look at him, shaking her head to free her face of some of that hair.]

Yeah, I'm pretty glad, too.

I'm not in love with the fog god.

[Casually, simply, hidden like it's nothing. It's easier that way, isn't it? When she's looking right into his eyes and says stuff like that like it isn't hard for her to say. But she wants him to know, wants him to realise-- even if the fog brought her here because of him, she wouldn't be coming back if she didn't want to. Somehow.]

So I definitely don't want to be spending the night with her.
