[Oh...that kills the man. Even though Dandy's first reaction is to push away, for some reason hearing her asking to go along with it just really yanks at him in a way he didn't expect. Like the tone of her voice pulls him back into reality.

Oh yeah, that's right, he has people who care about him.

He doesn't answer, but he makes his choice clear, grabbing her arm and wrapping his around it like she's some kind of security blanket. Sometimes he forgets he doesn't have to be alone anymore...

When is he going to get that through his stupid head.]

[That's more like it. Maya's a bit surprised but altogether appreciative that Dandy accepts the invitation; it's not like all of this hasn't been on her own mind as well. There's no way she was going to be able to ignore the whole debacle at all, but then she'd gone and gotten herself involved and reminded of how awful all of this eating stuff is, and, well. She's a little eager to rest her head on his shoulder in their strange otter-like half-hug.

Dandy isn't the only one who forgets he doesn't have to be sad alone.

But with the reminder so present in their unspoken promise not to abandon the other there in their wallowing, Maya takes the moment to stare into oddly bent pools of dim light in the distance of the water instead of speaking for a while. And then despite not really needing to there, under water, out of habit she breathes in and on the breath out hums a little bit of those strange orca noises when she says--]

I'm sorry. This planet sucks.

[Dandy winces at her words, but not in a bad way, if that's even possible. Hearing someone else say that out loud...is comforting in a way that shocks him. He's so used to people arguing with him, he...needed to hear that.

Especially because he knows he's going to be arguing a lot in the future, he just needs to know he's not crazy.

His hand squeezes around her arm, letting her know the appreciation's there. If he had things his way, they'd just be lying like this forever. Man, he misses when he had things his way...]

I don't think I'm goin' into Bavan anytime soon. [His voice is raspy.] You think you can put up with that?

["Will you be willing to run to the store for me" basically. But he can't do it, just the thought of showing his face there builds the guilt in his stomach. He can't imagine how he'd be if he actually set foot in there.

Dandy always loved the idea of people fearing him, but like...as a cool tough guy. Not like this, for once he actually feels like a monster.]
