Dandy's dumbstruck, which is easily seen on his goofy face thanks to lying upside down, all that hair doesn't drape over him like some sort of horrible hair blanket. Even as a big horrifying monster thing, he still manages to have his very Dandy eyes.

Which can't stop staring at her.]

You really remember all that, huh...?

[When he threw out the "L" word, it always felt like it was overshadowed by how wonderful her return was. But wow, it must've meant more than he realized if she remembered every last detail like that... Like how he just fucking fell asleep right there and then...]

Well alright then, I guess I just owe ya. Sleep away.

[Maya can feel her face warming up a little, glad the bioluminescence takes over most of it, and starts to play with her own hair this time, looking away from those dumb puppy eyes.]

[She admits, before letting out a huff and shaking her head. Even with permission, she's not letting him out of this one so easily.]

You made me think about it all night!

[His eyes are only going to get dumber, she better not look back.]

[The thought alone gets him to start...wiggling. It's a very playful squirm, like he's hoping he'll make enough noise to make her turn back around. Like a trap.

A really stupid trap.]

You must've been beat from all that walking, too. STILL couldn't make it to dreamland~ Had to stay up all night with Dandy~

Aaaall night, listening to you snore.

[She's glad she's not facing him anymore, even if she does want to see what he's doing back there. Wiggling. Idiot. But if she turns, he'll see how hard she's smiling. Not allowed.]

Thinking about if you-- [Ignore her clearing her throat shut up] love me or whatever. Gross.

[There's the tiiiniest, quick little gasp of Maya bringing in a breath to hold while Dandy says all that gross stuff, as if not breathing can help her deal with the dizzying sparkling in her throat and chest. When she lets it out, though, she gives Dandy a softer smile over her shoulder, shrugging and looking down at her hands, dragging her fingers over the webbing where once ivy was blooming.]

Even after all that dumb horrible stuff I said, huh?

[She could be stupid, she could take months to say she loves him, she could mess up and swallow some kind of stupid plant and become hateful and mean and not herself-- and he'd still act like this with her. Wild.]

Eh, I've heard worse. It's kinda hard to beat the dude who goes into overwhelming amounts of detail on how he's gonna turn your dead body into a beanbag chair or whatever.

[Also working for a guy who says shit like that. He can still act like this with her even after that!!]

All I know is I don't take this crap lightly. If I say I love you, then I sure as hell mean it, and I'm gonna let the whole world know it. And that includes proving it by moving on from stupid mind control plants.

Oh, yeah... [She guesses maybe that one is pretty gross. Please don't turn Dandy into a bean bag chair.

That said, Maya doesn't have time to dwell on that. The next thing Dandy says is so stupidly sweet, Maya has to cover her face again and take a breath, before shaking her head and hair out like it was nothing. Nothing!

She turns to face him, marching the one or two steps it takes to get back close enough to kiss his snout and does so.]

I love you too.

[She manages, quiet, hesitant, but sincere.]

It happens so suddenly, it's only now that Dandy realizes what's going on here. He's lying here on his back, literally a gigantic animal, looking nothing like he really should... And this is the time of all times Maya decides to bring "love" into the picture not once, but twice.

Dandy was always a big fan of his looks, and although he knows Maya isn't the superficial sort, it's just...nice to know...to really know that she loves him even like this.

He isn't the kind of person to break out sobbing, but dammit if he isn't trying his hardest to keep his eyes from welling up. He's failing, of course. Horribly. Who knew whales could cry.]

C'mon, that's not fair... I can't even kiss you back...

So? Who cares!

[She laughs, relieved to have said it again and-- and nothing had happened, either, the world hadn't split in two and neither had her heart. She's still here, stroking the oversized animal face of someone who dared to say he loved her, too. Like she matters, like she isn't a fuckup, like she didn't deserve to be left alone.

But she's not been lonely in a while, has she?]

You can kiss me all you want when you take me to space!

[Oh...that feels really nice, too... He's like an overgrown puppy at this point, leaning into her, pressing against her for that good touch. Jeez, he can't believe he went three whole months without her, how the hell did he even survive? How the hell did he get so lucky to have her come back in the first place? How could one small girl leave such a huge impact?]

Ohhhh no, do you really think I can wait that long? The moment this fog is over, you're doomed.

[But it's nice to know he has her permission when that day comes. He'll be sure to make her regret it.]

What a terrible fate.

[Maya laughs, still leaning on him, still petting him. She's very sure she won't regret it much at all, not if he's going to continue to make her feel so... Worth being alive.]

Guess I'll just have to get used to it.
